Managing Afrikaans language news staff and resources on a daily basis including camera operators and video editors if necessary, and including output both for television and online.
Overseeing the editorial input and output of the Afrikaans language news team, ensuring it is of the highest professional quality.
Facilitating coordination of news diaries and operations with the rest of the news teams to ensure an efficient sharing of resources.
Contributing towards Afrikaans language news bulletins by writing, subbing and overseeing content, as well as online content.
Recruiting new staff for the Afrikaans news team in conjunction with senior news management.
Handling disciplinary issues that may arise in the team
Maintaining a productive and efficient operation with good staff morale
Degree in journalism or related relevant qualification.
Minimum five years of broadcasting experience.
Must be fluent in Afrikaans and English.
Exceptional management skills
Thorough understanding of South African politics and general news.
Thorough understanding of media law and ethics in South African journalism.
Thorough understanding of the processes involved in producing television news.
Thorough understanding of the eNews strategy in terms of our target audience and delivering news for that market.

Note: The successful candidate will be required to work irregular and long hours, including weekends, public holidays and standby shifts.
