Former SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng on Wednesday held a bizarre press conference to praise his 90% local content initiative that has seen the SABC on a slippery slope to disaster.
With the SABC’s viewership numbers plummeting there’s been a lot of buzz that Hlaudi’s 90% content plan would soon be doomed.
But during the press conference a confident Hlaudi praised his 90% quota plan whilst listing the accolades he has received during his career.
After an hour-and-a-half of pre-speakers Hlaudi finally took to stage whilst a crowd of his supporters enthusiastically cheered him on.
According to the former COO he is absolutely puzzled as to why people aren’t supporting his 90% content plan.
“There’s nothing wrong with local content. All South Africans should support local content,” Hlaudi said at the press conference.
The briefing bizarrely was just Hlaudi, who currently doesn’t have an official position at the SABC, praising his own narrative and threatening anyone who doesn’t agree with him. All this while an animated crowd oohed and aahed at his every word.
“We want to see black and white benefiting from 90% and all the business it brings. Why would people want Bold & the Beautiful when they could have local,” he said.
Hlaudi also said that he's been tempted to enter politics and knows he'll have South Africa's support as he "represents the majority". He then went on a rant over the current state of politics in the country.
