The 2018 South African comedy will be heading straight from the cinemas and on to Netflix South Africa. A very impressive move for any local film. By Nic Andersen
Catching Feelings looks to be the perfect example of a South African romantic comedy, done right. With an incredible cast at the helm, this is a film that many South Africans have had their eyes on and actually gone to the cinema to see. Now, even more will be able to see it on Netflix.
Catching Feelings will go live on the streaming service in May. This movie will make you laugh it’s a great Friday night watch with bae.
What is Catching Feelings all about?
“Catching feelings is a dark romantic comedy which follows an urbane young academic and his beautiful wife, as their lives get turned upside down when a celebrated and hedonistic older writer moves into their Johannesburg home with them.”
Aside from staring in the film, Kagiso Lediga grabs the project as his own by also directing and writing. Alongside him on screen, Lediga is joined by none other than Pearl Thusi.
Thusi is a South African megastar with international credits and recurring roles on US shows like Quantico. Her involvement in this film was a key part of bringing South Africans to the cinema. Andrew Buckland and Loyiso Gola are some of the other noteworthy names on the cast list.
Netflix and South Africa
While Inxeba is available to stream on Netflix in the US, Catching Feelings is the first South African film to stream on Netflix South Africa. The only other piece of local content on the service so far, is a comedy special with global phenomenon Trevor Noah.
