Johnny Die Skopper, an Afrikaans mini online drama series created by Benito Carelsen, has drawn massive interest on the South African social network Chomi.
The 6-part short form series was launched on 1 March 2018 on Mediafix TV page and continues to attract viewers. The project started out as a film and once it went into development, Carelsen saw the need for it to develop into a short form series, accessible to mobile first.
The choice of launching it on Chomi was deliberate. The social network platform attracts many young online viewers that engages on the network in 11 different languages.
"The story is authentic to PE and so broadcasting it to a social destination where people will discuss it in their mother tongue is ideal " says Carelsen. Starring on the series were faces like Fiks Mahola and Earl Swartz . The series was Produced and Directed by Benito Carelse, Director of Photography was none other than Howard Nciweni.
