The Pan African Film Festival opened in Los Angeles with a premiere red carpet screening of a new film by Alfons Adetuyi (Jozi H), that is set to tickle funny bones and heart strings worldwide. “Love Jacked” had its worldwide premiere in Toronto last year and this is its first US outing prior to its release.
Starring Amber Stevens West (22 Jump Street), Keith David (Platoon), Shamier Anderson (Labyrinth) and Lyriq Bent (The Book of Negroes), this light-hearted take on inter-cultural relationships between Africans and African-Americans was written by Robert Adetuyi who had huge success with “Stomp the Yard”.
The film is an official Canada/South Africa co-production between Inner-City Films and Spier Films and was shot equally between Toronto and Cape Town with South African and Canadian crew shooting in both cities.
Alfons Adetuyi produced for Inner City Films with Cora Tonno Executive Producing and Michael Auret produced for Spier Films with Lwazi Manzi of Mercurial Pictures.
Due for a wide release in the US, the film will be released later this year to South African audiences.
