SA comedy 'Keeping up with the Kandasamys' a rollicking family affair

From the producers of Hard to Get and Happiness is a Four-Letter Word, one of South Africa’s most successful films, comes an all new, rib-tickling, two-sided family comedy affair, directed and co-written by Durban filmmaker Jayan Moodley produced by award-winning duo Helena Spring and the late Junaid Ahmed and co-writer, Rory Booth.

The Kandasamys are neighbours in Chatsworth, which is a massive suburb just outside Durban.

Spring says so many people of Indian decent in South Africa have their roots in Chatsworth.

It is about these two women there who are arch-enemies and have been in a vendetta for a long, long time - and they happen to be neighbours which makes life very difficult - and then their children fall in love and they have to collaborate with each other.

This film has something for everyone. The universal story of neighbourhood rivalry, our desperate need for acceptance and the climb for perceived societal success, is something which touches everyone the world over.
