Yowza Animation (Canada) and Pixcomm (South Africa) have teamed up to develop Ting-Ting, a new preschool series about a patchwork girl living in a patchwork world.
The bells in Ting-Ting's hair tink-a-link as she thinks about what new thing she's going to grow each day. From string beans to bouquets of balloons, when Ting-Ting puts her mind to it, she can grow anything!
Each 7-minute episode uses rhyme and sound, as well as the varied visual texture associated with patchwork quilts, to support sensory learning and cognitive development. Steeped in imagination and childhood curiosity, Ting-Ting's adventures teach her about "growth cycles", and how things around us become the things they are.
The world Ting-Ting, her wobbly little brother Topples, and their handymom, Trixie, call home is full of questions, wonderful friends, and mischievous pranksters; there's always something to discover, and a new memory to quilt at the end of each day!
Following a recent DTI-sponsored trip Pixcomm attended the Ottawa Animation Festival where
Ting-Ting recently ranked 1st runner-up in the Pitch This! competition. Yowza Animation and Pixcomm will jointly produce 78 episodes aimed at the preschool market.
'Ting Ting's patchwork world will stimulate young children's imaginations and the gentle rhyming and sensory experience enhances cognitive growth in a fun way' says content developer and lead writer, Santa Buchanan.
