Adventures of Zambezia hits the spot at the Russian Box Office

South Africa's 3D animation film, Adventures of Zambezia has hit the second spot at the Russian Box Office for the weekend of 30th of August to the 2nd of September 2012. The film grossed $ 1.57 million this past weekend alone bringing the total grossing figure to $3. 72 million since the film opened in Russian on the 23rd of August 2012 with 800 screens in 150 cities.

Zambezia has also opened with 458 screens in Germany, Austria and German speaking Switzerland. In South Africa the film is scheduled for cinema release in December and it has already won the Best South African Feature Film award at the 33rd Durban International Film Festival where it was screened at a closing film.

Supported by the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) and directed by Wayne Thornley, Adventures of Zambezia tells a story of a young falcon, Kai, as he journeys to the bird city of Zambezia, leaving his home and father to make a life for himself. He soon discovers, however, that living in a community can be more difficult than surviving in the wild, and it is only when the city comes under threat that he comes to understand that the only life worth living is a life lived through others.
