Girl's guide to finding love

SABC2 is introducing a new drama series that promises to look at the tricky terrain of modern romance from a female perspective. by Bongiwe Khumalo

The Mating Game tells the story of three single women who are climbing the corporate ladder and are finding it hard to embrace the thought of being loveless.

Grace, played by Maggie Benedict, is a radio DJ whose career is taking off, thanks to her frank on-air pronouncements. Her love life, however, is not such plain sailing. Elphas (Nathaniel Ramabulana), the father of her child, is back on the scene, but his pockets are way too empty to be boyfriend material. Grace feels justified in dating a much older, married man, but is soon faced with the choice between love and money.

Roxanne (Renate Stuurman), on the other hand, makes the news when she lands the job of editor of the women's magazine she writes for. Her abusive ex-husband is able to track her down and demands that she return to Cape Town. Her toyboy, Bryan (Errol Schwartz), has no idea how old she is, nor that she has a son and a painful past.

Sara (Elma Postma) is in a state of panic when her lover, Bianca, played by Chan Marti, leaves her for a younger woman. Thirty and childless, she starts the search for a sperm donor, which comes at a higher price than expected.

'The Mating Game' is on SABC2 on Thursdays at 9.30pm
