Call for submissions for the Doha Film Institute (DFI) is now open until the 14th of August 2013. DFI's funding programme has expanded from its focus on the Middle East-North Africa region to make projects from all nations eligible for grant consideration.
DFI is dedicated to film appreciation, education, and building a dynamic film industry in Qatar that focuses on nurturing regional storytellers while being entirely global in its scope. With culture, community, education and entertainment at its foundation, DFI serves as an all-encompassing film hub in Doha, as well as a resource for the region and the rest of the world.
A significant change to the fund structure is that grants are now only accessible to projects by first- and second-time directors. Applications for funding are considered from three regions: the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), the OECD's Development Assistance Committee list of countries (DAC) and the rest of the world (ROW). Eligibility is determined by the nationality of the director attached to the project. Different eligibility criteria apply for each region.
Feature-length (70 minutes and longer) and short projects with MENA directors attached and feature-length narrative projects with DAC directors attached should apply for consideration before the closing deadline of 14 August 2013.
