Award winning Alison opens in Nu Metro cinemas nationwide

Alison the movie #butterflyrevolution.

Alison the Movie opens exclusively in Nu Metro cinemas nationwide on Friday the 12th of August 2016. Alison is one of South Africa's most hotly-anticipated award winning hybrid films.

Deploying a bold mixture of fairy tale idiom and unflinching frankness to tell its story of survival, resilience and triumph, Alison has been dubbed "a story of monsters, miracles and hope". This is also the first time Alison has ever allowed cameras into her home.

Director / producer of ALISON, Uga Carlini from Towerkop Creations specializes in female driven heroine stories, so there could not be a higher honour for her showcasing the story of Alison as her debut feature film.

ALISON has just had her Caribbean Premier at the highly anticipated Cayman Islands International Film Festival, was opening film of the 2016 Mzanzi Women's Festival at Constitutional Hill and was one of the NFVF showcase films In Honor of Women and Activism at this year's Grahamstown International Arts Festival. Alison also won the Best Documentary at the Asia Pacific International Film Festival, after selling out Encounters International Film Festival. The film had its international premiere at Dances with Films Festival in Los Angeles, where it not only got pick of the fest from Enclave LA, the hybrid film also made history by becoming the first South African film to be selected for this iconic film festival.

In the Spirit of Women's Month 2016, Towerkop Creations & Left Post Production have rolled out the #butterflyrevolution campaign where well loved South Africans, like Jack Parow, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Kim Engelbrecht, Victor Matfield, Elana Africa, Christia Visser and Sandra Prinsloo - to name a few - came on board as ambassadors for the #butterflyrevolution as we take a very personal stand opposing violence against women and children.

By choosing to take action, however small, you can change the course of events. We want to remind everyone that we can inspire each other by being silently brave or publically revolutionary. Collectively, we all have a responsibility to treat one another with respect. So, this is what we are doing. What about you?
